Acadia Parish Assessor presented the "Excellence in the Implementation of Computer Technology Award"

Crowley , Louisiana - July 21, 2003 - Russel Benoit, Acadia Parish Assessor was presented the Excellence in the Implementation of Computer Technology Award by Greg Teeters, President of S&S.

"The Acadia Parish Assessor's office truly deserves this recognition and award," said Mr. Teeters. "They understood how to take advantage of the capabilities and power of our Assessor Information System (AIS™); they changed their business processes, trained their staff, and did an excellent job of implementation. But what really impressed us was the leadership and project management exhibited during the integration of AIS™ with computerized mapping."

"This multi-year project propelled the Acadia Assessor's office to a position of Tax Administration and GIS leadership in the State, if not the Nation with their integration" added Mr. Teeters.

Mr. Benoit expressed appreciation for the AIS™ software but saved his greatest praise for his staff. "The success of this implementation is due to the uncompromising professionalism and the persistence of our Chief Deputy Choppy Smith and to our very talented staff. I am very fortunate and thankful for them."

Over the last three years the Acadia Assessor's office has undertaken several new initiatives. Besides the AIS™ system installation, they contracted with a mapping company to convert their paper maps into digital form. This massive undertaking was made easier by the quality of the paper maps already in place. Now, the computerized maps are updated each day automatically from the AIS™ ownership transfers. Trained office staff keeps other changes to the maps (such as parcel splits) up-to-date - a feat few Assessors offices have achieved.

The Excellence in Computer Technology Implementation Award is presented annually to organizations that show excellence in leadership, innovation and implementation of S&S applications.
